Jamieson records 4,000th harness racing victory in Toronto event

TORONTO - Truro native Jody?Jamieson reached a career milestone this week when he registered his 4,000th harness racing victory.

Jamieson, 31, celebrated the career achievement on Monday night at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto when he guided to BJs Boomerang to victory in the nights 11th race.

He was right back in the next race to post Win No 4,001 as he drove his third winner on the card,

Jamieson, a third generation horseman - his grandfather Frank of Wallace was a long-time driver and race horse owner while his father Carl is one of the top trainers in Canada is coming off his best season ever in the race bike which culminated in an OBrien Award as Canadas Driver of the Year.

Jody captured many of the sports biggest races in 2007 including the Little Brown Jug, Confederation Cup, Governors Cup, Breeders Crown and $1.5 million Pepsi North America Cup at Mohawk Racetrack.

The colourful reinsman is off to another fast start this season with 61 wins and more than $1 million in purse earnings to his credit so far. Lifetime, his mounts have banked more than $46 million.

Jamieson is also a past winner of the World Driving Championship, capturing the event back in 2001 when it was held in Scandinavia.

Hilo Wins Again

The pacer overcame a first-over trip for driver Gilles Dion to take home top prize in the $13,400 affair for his owner Paul Gray of Pugwash.
